| Description : |
Once at the building and past the heavy 18th century doors, (secured with a code though the area is quite safe), another world comes to life in the form of an old 18th-century courtyard. A short flight of steps on a well-kept, epoch, winding staircase presents the apartment door.
Living room
A door from the dining room leads through a small hall and into the living room. Spacious and light with a 4-meter high ceiling, this room is flooded with natural light coming from 3-meter-high windows. An elegant eclectic mixture of antiques also give an unexpected harmony, from the louis the 15th overstuffed chair to grey-green walls with gold trim, paintings and objects to the red lacquered armoire with oriental motifs. A large flat screen television and a working fireplace give the choice for a relaxing evening. Of course silk curtains provide privacy, especially since the comfortable green sofa with velvet pillows turns into a double bed.
Dining room
The door barely open to the apartment, the future inhabitant is greeted by the first eclectic, tasteful room, the spacious dining room, floored with 18th century “tomette” tiles and a heavy antique wood table that seats 6. Above the heavy table hangs a renaissance copper chandelier. A large book case housed with a variety of books and a heavy renaissance-style buffet inhabit two adjacent walls. The third wall encases 18th-century doors leading to the kitchen. The kitchen is therefore close to the dining area and practical for dinners. A window looking on to the courtyard and encased in greenery, lets in natural light.
Kitchen
The kitchen is made for the gourmet chef, large and with plenty of counter space, equipped with all amenities: pots and pans, mixer, toaster, microwave oven, oven, gas stove. The middle ages stone sink, cranberry colored walls and black laquered cupboards give this room an additional charm, as well as the natural light coming from a large window giving on to the courtyard.
Bedroom
From the living room, through a small door, a cozy, chic bedroom, with the same high ceilings as the living room and the same window giving natural light provide a comfortable night’s sleep on a queen-size bed. A block-out blind keeps out light for the person that wants to sleep in. The walls are coverd with elegant silk, patterned material.
Bathroom
The bedroom has a private access to the bathroom, which is spacious and dons a large bathtub, perfect for soaking after a long day at the office or of sight-seeing. The bathroom is discerningly tiled on the walls and floor with small black tile, and a red laquered armoir sets off the room in color. The room is quiet and relaxing. Another door conveniently gives access to the small hall leading to the dining and living areas, which is convenient as the toilets are in the bathroom.
Dressing/washing room
One extra of this apartment is the large dressing/washing room, with plenty of room for hanging cloths and doing wash discretely.

| The street, lined with beautiful 18th century buildings makes for a promenade in another époque, fortunately hip art, antique, and object shops bring the present back, as well as trendy, good French restaurants. Just on the other side of the rue de Rivoli, the more bustling part of the Marais and only 5 minutes away, even more shops, restaurants and cafés abound, as well as the jewish and gay areas. |
