BUILDING
The simple elegant 18th-century building has the charm of an old winding staircase, but the luxury of a private elevator going directly to the apartment. The building has a security code, intercom, and another code for the elevator.
ENTRANCE
This unique apartment has even a unique entrance, as the owners were clever enough to recuperate and use the 18th century staircase throughout. Therefore the elevator arrives on a landing with one door, the door to the apartment, which once open, immediately gives onto a staircase leading you to the first level with an elegant landing, the bedrooms and bathrooms (as well as all the storage space). From here another flight of stairs carries you to the main room.
LIVING ROOM /DINING ROOM/KITCHEN
Living/General
The 72 square meter Living room with dining room table and chairs, and kitchen, gives the full taste of true Parisian living. This large open room has two windows overlooking the square and one two-meter large, one meter-high squared-up window looking onto a narrow courtyard, designed to allow floods of light. Light and space are the themes of this vaulted room, where the 18th century beams give a rustic charm to an eclectic décor. Skylights add to the cathedral effect, where depending on the time of day, streams of light play differently across the heavy wood beams, the varied angles in the roof and the polished hard-wood floor. The room is furnished with a sofa that seats two, coffee table, end tables, lamps, stereo, phone, cable TV, VCR, DVD, built in shelves/ledges. A decorative fireplace dons one wall.
Dining
A dining table that seats 6 is conveniently just in front of the kitchen and open to the rest of the room, making for a comfortable atmosphere when you entertain.
Kitchen
For those familiar with gourmet Kitchens, this one is the brand “Boffi”, the Rolls Royce of kitchens in France. It is all in white, and fully equipped with oven, microwave, 4 gas burners plus a gas grill, discreet extractor Hood, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, and all kitchen utensils, built-in closets and cupboards. The kitchen is fully tiled.
BEDROOMS
Upon arriving on the first elegant landing of the apartment, you have the choice of left or right, to the right is bedroom 1 and its bathroom, and to the left is bedroom 2 with its bathroom.
Bedroom #1
To the right on the first landing is bedroom 1, the master bedroom, though a tad smaller at 12 square meters, than the second bedroom. This bedroom, elegant and simple, eclectically decorated, has one window overlooking the square. It is contiguous to bathroom 1 by a long 5 square meter hallway with mirrored closets. It is furnished with: a double bed, Night table, shelves, lamps, a TV, mirror and wall hangings, a small tree, and like the rest of the apartment has hard-wood floors covered by rugs. A Japanese-style sliding rice-paper and wood door separates this room from the long hall leading to its bathroom.
Bedroom #2
To the left on the first landing, is the 15 square meter second bedroom and its bathroom. This bedroom is more simply decorated, with a full built-in closet and a window looking onto the square. It is separated from bathroom 2 by a small 2 square meter hall with a double closet. This bedroom is furnished with: a double bed, night table, shelves, lamps, desk, chair, TV, stereo, chest of drawers, and has hard wood flooring.
BATHROOM #1
The 7 square meter master bathroom is roomy and light as it has one large window facing a small courtyard. It is contiguous to bedroom 1, the master bedroom, separated by a long hall. This bathroom is really designed for relaxation and comfort, with a large, wide oval bathtub with showerhead. It is decorated in reposing colors, with beige tile and smoked mirror. It has a double sink as well as a toilet and plenty of cabinet space. It is equipped with a hair dryer.
BATHROOM #2
This 5 square meter bathroom has a small window facing the courtyard but which allows plenty of light and is contiguous to bedroom # 2. It is equipped with the following: washbasin, shower, toilet, cabinet space, washing machine, and clothes dryer. This bathroom is covered from floor to wall in white tile, with a playful splash of yellow here and there.

This apartment could not be in a better position in the Marais, right on the beautiful calm wooded square, the “Marché St. Catherine”, hidden away in the middle of the city with little to no traffic and a variety of restaurants at your doorstep. If you care to venture out of this little hideaway, you will discover the Marais itself, home to the French nobility from the pre-renaissance to the post-renaissance, and therefore a walking museum of architectural history. This area is the center and the oldest part of Paris, and contains many of its museums, and historic sites, including the Place des Vosges, as well as being just next door to the Centre Georges Pompidou, Place de l’hôtel de Ville, Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers, and the Place de la République. Within 10 minutes walking distance to the South, you are in Saint Germain - Saint Michel, located on the left bank of the Seine river.
Having undergone a renaissance itself in the last 20 years, the Marais is now one of Paris’ most fashionable areas, donning hip bistros and cafés on countless corners, terraces full of chic Parisians watching chic Parisians.
For the shopper looking for unique cloths, many young creators have chosen the Marais for their boutiques. Antique shops abound in the St. Paul antique area, as well as design and art galleries. In addition to the Place du Marché St. Catherine, good and unique restaurants thrive, and an assortment of any other kind of boutique desired, from chocolate to jewelry, to frozen yogurt, are also easily found.
Food shopping is very good in the area, with the rue St. Paul area just acroos the street, literally two-minute’s walk from the apartment, with plenty of all you need: butchers, bakeries, cheese shops, fresh fish, as well as fresh fruit, vegetables, and caterers...not to mention a regular supermarket.
For those not familiar with the Marais, it is important to point out how safe the area is, near hospitals, police and with many resident doctors, as well as pharmacies on every corner.
