The Neighborhood :

The Ile de la cite is in the heart of Paris. The rue Chanoinesse takes it name from the presence of the Chamoine monks in the Notre Dame monastery. In the Middle Ages there were two small islets here, the Islet of Cows and the Islet of Notre Dame, where famous legal battles called judgements of God were carried out. The construction of the Pont Neuf in 1578 and of the place Dauphine doubled the island's surface area. The construction of Notre Dame began in 1160 and terminated in the XIV century. The Ile de la cite has now become the tourist Mecca of the capital. Food shop, tabac and backery in the street opened everyday from monday to saturday until 8pm.
