St-Merry Church is located in the Marais in Paris, not far from the Centre Beaubourg. The story tells that God felt concerned about giving the Devil a small satisfaction to relieve his frustration and proposed him to accept the soul of each thousand person that would light a candle in this church. They say that the damned souls are compelled to maintain the candle alighted so they won't go to hell. Near the church, rue Brisemiche, we find a beautiful apartment with a fantastic view of Paris including of the Eiffel Tower.

Be damned the fool, but not for the wrong cause, no. It is to serve Saint-Merri, Notre-Dame de Beaubourg. You do not know the legend? In reality, few people know it, even in France, although this is not really a legend. One day, a man called the devil made a deal to maintain universal peace: receive the soul of some of the parishioners and visitors of Saint Merri church. Whenever thousand devotion candles are lit, the thousandth is reserved for the devil. Except if the unfortunate or unhappy keeps the candle lit. What makes some of us in Paris were forced to light a candle every two hours and that their Paris apartment is flooded with wax. They are called the followers of Saint Merri.
