Description :
When you enter this 2nd floor apartment of and ancient building in the historic Marais, you are impressed by its extravagant luxury. The high ceilings with ancient oak beams, tall windows and rich decoration all add to a feeling of opulence. The owner is an Italian businessman with a taste for art and fine furnishings as can be seen in the harmonious balance of violet hues in the panelled walls and upholstery, as well as in the curtains, chandelier and tiled niche that was formerly a fireplace. The ancient terra cotta floor tiles and the seventeenth-century Italian paintings add the final touch. The settee converts into a comfortable queen size bed (W160 cm). Four Louis XVI style chairs surround a large, round, glass-topped table. A wrought iron lamp and two matching armchairs complete the decoration. A touch of modernity is added by the flat screen cable TV with DVD player, a hi-fi, a high-speed Internet connection with WIFI and a telephone. An open stairway leads to a low mezzanine with a mirrored chest of draws and a double bed (W140 cm). The bright, modern kitchen pale violet tiles on the bench top and walls and is equipped with an oven/microwave, 4 vitro-ceramic hotplates, a fume hood, refrigerator with integrated freezer, a washing machine, electric kettle, coffee machine and a toaster. The bathroom is tiled in the same violet tones as the kitchen and has a large shower, a modern washbasin, mirror, hair dryer and toilet. The entrance hall has plenty of cupboards in which to store your clothes during your stay. All sheets and towels are provided.

The Neighborhood :
Situated in the heart of Paris, the apartment is in the colourful Jewish quarter, well known for its many restaurants and more recently for its fashion and design shops. In this historical area of Paris there are many museums within walking distance: Musée Picasso, Musée Cognac-Jay, Musée Carnavalet, Jewish Museum, the Archives Nationales and the Bibliothèque Historique de Paris. Aristocratic mansions with formal gardens and noble courtyards also abound. The antique market in the Village Saint-Paul is close by, as are the place des Vosges and the gay quarter in the rue Sainte Croix de la Bretonnerie. The Pompidou Centre, Notre Dame cathedral, the Ile Saint-Louis and the night life of La Bastille are all only ten minutes away.
