Known for its interesting old houses, the rue Galande reach the rue Saint-Jacques and the beautiful rue du  Petit Pont. This street of the Fifth District starts 2 of the rue des Anglais. It was once the beginning of the Roman road, the ue de la Montagne Ste Geneviève, la rue Descartes, la rue Mouffetard, l'avenue des Gobelins, Place and the Porte d'Italie was going to Lyon and Rome.

Galande street is full of history if any. Already in the Gallo-Roman time, it was on the route of the road from Lutece in Fontainebleau. Fully opened in 1262 its name come from the lord of Garlande.  Note that the Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre, little bit of street connecting Galande street to the rue Saint-Jacques and the rue du Petit Pont, also offers a line of elegant very well restored hotels.

Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre Church

One of the most beautiful church in Paris certainly, and also very moving with its little garden in the shade of the great and magnificent Notre-Dame de Paris. It was probably dedicated to Julian the Hospitaller, one of the Golden Legend by Jacques de Voragine.

N° 42  The  Studio Galande, cinéma d'Art et Essai that has been playing continuously The Rocky Horror Picture Show for 20 years.

N° 48 Site of the chapelle de Saint-Blaise-Saint-Louis built around 1200. The present house is made out of the chapelle stones.

N° 57 Site of a famous brothel, the  Château-Rouge, tavern and a dormitory for homeless, incorporated in the Tour of the Grand Dukes (Tournée des grands ducs) in 1900.
