In the sixth arrondissement of Paris, the tiny Nesle street (just 71 meters) starts 22 rue Dauphine and ends impasse de Nevers.
This street was built in 1607 along the Pont Neuf. 1607 is in Paris the year of the development of the Place des Vosges, the Place Dauphine and the construction of the Pavillon de Flore of the Louvre. The street was probably the result of a remnant of the enclosure Philippe Auguste which another residue would become the impasse Conti. Its present name (1867) is a memory of the former Hotel de Nesle.

On the location of the Espace Nesle, in the former garden of the convent of Saint-Augustin, a beautiful large house was built in 1602 where lived Jean PAUMIER, Secretary to advise the King Henri IV. In the nineteenth and twentieth century the area was a group of buildings devoted to the so-called "relations" of prostitution. Time passed and the house received a wine trader, then a printing house. The editors of L'enragé, a satirical paper.
