No. 22 and No. 26, built on the site where once stood the house of a jew named Jonathas. In 1290 an old woman told that Jonathas had lent money to her and to give back the clothes she had pledged, demanded to obtain the wafer that she would receive from the communion at the mass* at Saint-Merri Church on Easter Sunday. Once in possession of the sacred bread, Jonathas would have larded it with many a penknife. It gushed blood, and Jonathas would have thrown the wafer in a basin of boiling water. The water became red like blood at the same time as the old woman saw the wafer rise above it. She rushed outside to stir up the neighborhood. Jonathas was immediately arrested on the spot, condemned to be burned alive and his property and his house was confiscated by Philippe le Bel, who kept the property and gave it to the bourgeois Reinier Flamini. He built on its site an expiatory chapel called the Chapel of the Miracle.
