The rue des Deux Ponts is located on the Seine in the fourth arrondissement. It is between the Marais and the City. It owes its name to the privileged position on the Ile Saint-Louis. Indeed, it connects the Pont Marie and Pont de la Tournelle. The rue des Deux Ponts begins 2 quai d'Orleans and ends 36 Quai de Bethune. Opened in 1614 to link the two bridges, it was first called logically Saint-Louis. The dramatic poet Lagrange-Chancel lived at number 38. It was he who tried to prove that the Homme au masque de fer (Man in the Iron Mask) was actually the Duke of Beaufort.
