There take place the Hunchback, one of the most known piece of literature in the world. It happens in 1482 when Paris is making its Festival of Fools. The deformed bell ringer Quasimodo become the Pope of Fools. The beautiful 15-year-old Gypsy girl, Esmeralda, expert in the capture of men hearts and particularly Quasimodo"s and his adopted father"s, Claude Frollo. Frollo can"t make a choice between lust and religion. He orders Quasimodo to get Esmeralda. Quasimodo is whipped and tied down in the heat. Esmeralda gives him water. The generous act will save her when she will be accused of murder and brought into the Notre-Dame catedral protected by the law as a sanctuary. The king abandon the law of sanctuary and orders his troops to kill Esmeralda. At the same time the Truands come to rescue the beauty but when he sees them the Hunchback believes they want to hurt Esmeralda and drives them off. But Frollo hands her to the king and she is hanged. Quasimodo pushes him from the heights of Notre-Dame. In Montfaucon (gigantic graveyard for hanged corpses in Paris, today rue de la Grange-aux-Belles, Paris Xth district) Quasimodo will finish his life near his dead love.
