From humble origins, Paul Doumer was born March 22, 1857 in Aurillac in the Cantal, a railway worker father a native of Aveyron. Son of John, employee of the railways, and Victorine David. He married in 1878 Blanche RICHEL, daughter of a school inspector of public instruction. Eight children: Fernand, Marcel, René, André, Armand, Hélène (Mme Pierre EMERY), Lucile (Mme CRETE), Germaine (Mme LEMAIRE). Messenger at 12 years, he learned very young the trade of engraver. Student at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers ( on the evening), he graduated in mathematics in 1877 and a law degree in 1878. Became a teacher, begining in the College of Mende, then Remiremont between 1878 and 1883. He then joined the Aisne, where he practices as a journalist, editor of the Courrier de l'Aisne, founder of the Tribune de l'Aisne. His political family is radical-socialism: Parliament member of the Aisne (1888-1889, 1902-1910) and the Yonne (1891-1896) Senator from Corsica (1912-1931) PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC (1931-1932) . Elected as deputy for Chateau-Thierry in 1888, he was beaten in 1889 then elected to the Yonne. Indochina: with Dr. Yersin he helps to achieve a first sanatorium in Dalat and to the acclimatization of Hevea (rubber tree). He began the creation of the port of Haiphong. Ha Noi was the first city in Asia to have electricity, Paul Doumer is one of the first directors of the Compagnie Générale d'Electricité (created by Pierre Azaria).
